March 4, 2005. What a fantastic event! Our prayers were answered and the rain stayed away for several hundred people who marched to Platt Fields from starting points in Longsight and Moss Side, lit by lanterns made by local children, and led by a samba band. The sight of the lanterns reflecting off the water as they came around the lake was breathtaking.
We gathered at the Garden of Delights where Lord Mayor and Gerlad Kauffmann MP were waiting. The Lord Mayor unveiled the eight Peace Mosaics, and we then went to the Lakeside Centre for hot food and a programme of entertainment showing even more of the creativity our young people have.
