Visit of LORNA STANLEY from Operation Restoration, Trench Town, Jamaica

Lorna Stanley is known at home as 'the Mother of Trench Town'. She is the head of 'Operation Restoration', a Christian School which she began in 1994 in Rema, one of the worst neighbourhoods of Trench Town. The school has provided education to over 400 young people who otherwise would not have received any, enabling many of them to progress to college and employment.

“Here is a woman who gave it all up to relocate to Jamaica and start a school in one of our most depressed communities. A woman who has spent her own money, who has opened her own home to her students; a woman who has faced down a gunman who threatened to kill her - and all this apparently with no government support…there is no substitute for dedication, vision hard work, and above all the selflessness of a person like Lorna Stanley.”
